About

In the Bible Jesus tells us one thing matters more than anything else: listening to what he teaches. Our mission is to extend his invitation to listen to him far and wide. The voice of Jesus is heard in the Bible and we aim to make listening to him the focus of all we do. We are a welcoming church working to reach people across Perth and beyond by teaching, building up, and inviting everyone to sit and listen to Jesus.

WHERE DID THE NAME ST LAWRENCE ORIGINATE?

Lawrence was martyred by the Roman Emperor Valerian in 250 A.D. Valerian forbade Christians to meet and in those dark days, many kept their faith private. But some Christians refused to obey their Emperor. Lawrence of Rome was one such person.

After the execution of his bishop, Lawrence was ordered by the Emperor to hand over the treasures of the church. Lawrence boldly asked for a day to gather the treasures of the church. Later in the week he appeared at the tribunal, attended by beggars and cripples – the members of the church. He was swiftly sentenced for treason and later burnt to death on an iron griddle.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24
