READINGS: Isaiah 53:1-12; Psalm 22; Matthew 27:32-56
COLLECT: Almighty and everlasting God, of your tender love towards us you sent your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all should follow the example of his great humility: mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen..
SENTENCE: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For your children for during the service, download and print these activity sheets on Luke 23:32-47. There are pages to colour in (for younger children), and some questions to answer (for older children).
(We acknowledge with thanks these resources from Faithinkids.org which is allowing free use of these materials during the Covid-19 pandemic.)
For before or after the service, you may wish to:
- Read Luke 19:32-47 with your children in an age-appropriate Bible (eg here)
- Go through the discussion questions on the activity sheets. The big idea is: On the cross we clearly see who Jesus is - forgiving the soldiers and saving the criminal - which is why he came.
- Watch and talk about this great Good Friday Quizworx children's talk which reminds our children that even when things seem out of control, Jesus is still in control!
