For today:
READINGS: Psalm 31:9-18 Philippians 2:1-13 Matthew 26:31-46
COLLECT: Almighty and everlasting God, of your tender love towards us you sent your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all should follow the example of his great humility: mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
SENTENCE: At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2.10–11)
Today in the church calendar, one week before Easter, is Palm Sunday, so our KidsChurch resources will look at that.
For your children for during the service, download and print these activity sheets on Luke 19:30-40. There are pages to colour in (for younger children), and some questions to answer (for older children).
(We acknowledge with thanks these resources from Faithinkids.org which is allowing free use of these materials during the Covid-19 pandemic.)
For before or after the service, you may wish to:
- Read Luke 19:30-40 (Jesus' entry into Jerusalem) with your children in an age-appropriate Bible
- Perhaps act out the scene as a family!
- Go through the discussion questions on the activity sheets. The big idea is that Jesus is God's promised King who must be praised.
- Watch this fun and helpful Colin Buchanan children's talk where he teaches us that no matter what might be happening in our world, 'our God is so big, so strong and so mighty'!
