For today:
READINGS: Psalm 16; Acts 2:22-41; John 20:19-31
COLLECT: Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life of all who put their trust in him: raise us, we pray, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness; that we may ever seek the things which are above, where he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
SENTENCE: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
For your children for during the service, download and print these activity sheets on Luke 24:50-53 (Jesus' ascension). There are pages to colour in (for younger children), and some questions to answer (for older children).
(We acknowledge with thanks these resources from Faithinkids.org which is allowing free use of these materials during the Covid-19 pandemic.)
For before or after the service, you may wish to:
- Read Luke 24:50-53 with your children in an age-appropriate Bible
- Go through the discussion questions on the activity sheets. The big idea is: 'Jesus' departure was joyful because he was going to heaven to be God's king.'
- Watch and talk about this Quizworx children's talk which reminds our children that we can pray to God through Jesus 'when we're glad or when we're sad', anywhere, anytime, about anything!
